Special Event Coordinator
Some clients
choose to forgo the development of a comprehensive strategic PR plan. Instead,
they have a goal in mind and hire PRIDEA to develop and/or implement special
events on their behalf. Special events provide the client an opportunity
to invite its target audience and attract media coverage. PRIDEA will
always come up with highly creative and easy-to-implement special events
tied to the client’s goals.
One of the most enjoyable special events PRIDEA helped with was in a volunteer capacity for the American Cancer Society. The special event, which was covered by all the major television networks and largest newspapers, centered around schoolchildren asking Santa Claus to give up his pipe as part of an anti-smoking campaign.
Another special event for the American Cancer Society was called, “Make a Fashion Statement…Don’t Smoke.” High school students put on fashion shows with skits integrated throughout the event. Every time a fashion model lit up a cigarette, he/she was no longer viewed as attractive or popular. A follow-up study indicated that a high percentage of high school students who considered smoking were now reconsidering their actions.
